Her reputation within the Latino community started to take off and Ms Anzoategui was led to her first spanish short film directing credit, La Familia Sana for Cal State Fullerton.
Karen’s experience producing burlesque shows led her to produce stand up comedy shows at the Alexandria Hotel where her comedic writing was put to test. Karen has had a successful ongoing comedy show after Downtown LA’s very own Artwalk called L.O.Licious! LA Times covered her debut show in February of this year.
Her second short film, Swine Flew, is in pre production. Swine Flew is story of LA police officers blamed for the Swine Flu epidemic, making them go beyond their human boundaries to show the world they are innocent before getting slaughtered.

Karen worked closely with dramaturg Che’rae Adams for the culmination in September. Ser is the story of Karen’s experience growing up as an Argentine in Los Angeles’ dominant Mexican culture. “Through the passions and politics of a soccer match, solo theater artist Anzoategui explores the complexities of Latino identity in Los Angeles, and the nuances of being born to Argentine parents in a predominantly Mexican community” REDCAT. Karen’s ability to integrate tango music with modern speech and poetry makes SER a theatrical journey into the life of an Argentinean girl trying to find herself in her culture and her own community.

Her upcoming performing art piece written and performed by her will be ProCLITvities at Highways Theatre in Santa Monica as part of the Latino Works Festival in September.
